Shapiro Medical Group’s front office staff and surgical team work together with the goal of providing patients the best experience possible. Many have been with SMG for more than 20 years and are among the most skilled and experienced in the field of hair transplantation.
Front office support staff and physicians believe maintaining approachability and answering questions at every stage of the process is of utmost importance to the Shapiro Medical Group physicians and front office staff. An open-door policy allows patients and prospective patients to feel comfortable contacting Shapiro Medical Group, at any time.
The SMG surgical team has traveled with Dr. Ron Shapiro to many conferences, over the years, helping demonstrate advanced surgical techniques. Surgical assistants from SMG are often asked to lecture and teach other assistants at conferences and live surgical demonstrations around the world. Physicians frequently send their staff to SMG for training.

Andrea Russell
Front Office Manager & Patient Coordinator
Andrea has served as Shapiro Medical Group’s Business Operations Manager for more than 18 years. She manages day-to-day business operations of the clinic including financial functions, marketing communications, contact management and human resources. Before joining Shapiro Medical Group, Andrea spent her career in marketing, sales and public relations management in the apparel and home furnishings industry, and more recently, the cosmetic medical field. She holds a B.S. from The Ohio State University.
Matt Zupan
Patient Educator & Coordinator
Matt has worked with Dr. Ron Shapiro for 25 years as a patient educator. He consults daily with men and women about their hair loss experience and expectations for regaining the look of fullness. Matt has developed many tools to help communicate some of the more complicated concepts in a straightforward way. Most patients say their session with Matt was a very valuable experience, and it helped them understand what is realistically achievable with Microscopic Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation, based on their unique characteristics. Following the in-depth, initial consultation with Matt, a Shapiro Medical Group physician makes a final evaluation and recommendation.
Kelly
Laser Technician and Patient Coordinator
Kelly began her career with Shapiro Medical Group more than 20 years ago as a laser hair removal technician and patient coordinator. She is a CME with 20+ years of experience in medical hair removal. Kelly has a loyal following of local electrolysis and laser hair removal patients. She frequently performs laser treatments on those who have experienced poor hair transplant work. Kelly plays a key role in patient intake, support, education and operations at Shapiro Medical Group.

Janna Shafer
Clinical Operations Manager and Head Technician
Janna has worked with Dr. Ron Shapiro for more than 20 years. She started as a surgical assistant and, for the past 10 + years, has served as Clinical Operations Manager. Janna honed her technical skills in all phases of the surgical procedure and has assisted with thousands of surgeries. She has contributed to the Assistant’s Program at national and international conferences and has shared her technical skills and training methods with many clinics over the years. Janna travels with Dr. Shapiro to most conferences to assist with live surgery demonstrations, and she handles many of the pre-op and post-op surgery questions from patients, by phone and email.

Head Surgical Coordinator
Song has been with Shapiro Medical Group for more than 10 years. An experienced medical assistant, who also enjoys sewing, Song quickly honed her skills in hair transplant surgery at SMG. She is a gifted, knowledgeable technician, well-known for her wit and ability to make patients relax in the surgery chair. She has contributed to the Assistant’s Program at national and international conferences and has shared her technical skills and training methods with many clinics over the years.
Pamela
Surgical Assistant, Licensed Cosmetologist, Front Office Support
Pamela has worked for SMG for 20 years. She is extremely talented and experienced in slivering, graft preparation and placing. Pamela is also a Licensed Cosmetologist who specializes in cutting and styling hair for hair transplant patients. She enjoys helping patients transition to new hairstyles. Pamela works closely with Shapiro Medical Group assistants regarding work schedules and the sharing of new ideas and information. She has also traveled with Dr. Shapiro to conferences ot assist with surgery and teach other assistants.

Silvia has been with Shapiro Medical Group for more than 8 years. Her easy-going nature, dependable skills and experience contribute to the outstanding team effort that defines Shapiro Medical. She too has taught at the ISHRS assistants meetings

Dal has been with SMG for more than 10 years. He is an award-winning painter. Dal’s skills as an artist helped him become proficient with the many techniques and tools used in hair transplantation procedures.

Tiffany has been with Shapiro Medical Group for more than 7 years. Her engaging personality, solid technical skills and experience in health care always leave patients with a positive impression. Tiffany is often one of the first in the clinic to see patients the morning after a procedure.

Kasia
Surgical Assistant, Research Associate
Kasia has worked for Shapiro Medical Group as a research and surgical assistant since 2010. She began her career in the field of hair transplantation in Europe, in 2003, spending time at a variety of clinics, assisting in surgery, training new surgical assistants and developing and implementing new surgical and managed patient-care protocols. Kasia has served as a training and management consultant for new clinics in Europe and the U.S. She received her Master’s Degree in Sociology at the KUL.
