In 2004, Dr. Ron Shapiro was honored with the Golden Follicle Award, given for “outstanding and significant clinical contribution in the field of hair restoration surgery.” It is considered one of the highest honors in the field with only one physician chosen by his or her peers each year.

“The Bald Truth” – Consumer Guide Book

The book The Bald Truth (published by Pocket Books, a division of Simon and Shuster) recognizes Shapiro Medical Group’s physicians to be among the top 10 in the world who specialize in Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation. The 200-page paperback, sold as “The first complete guide to preventing and treating hair loss,” was written by Spence Kobren, founder of the AMERICAN HAIR LOSS COUNCIL.

Co-Author Textbook "Hair Transplantation"– Known as “The Bible” of Hair Transplantation

Dr. Ron Shapiro co-edited Hair Transplantation, the 4th edition in 2005 and the 5th Edition in 2010.This Textbook is often called the “Bible” of Hair Transplantation. It is used as a textbook by physicians learning the art and science of hair transplantation.

Dr. Shapiro developed many of the modern Principles & Techniques of Hairline Design. He wrote the “landmark article” on creating natural hairlines used by physicians learning the Art of Hairline Design. expertise in hairline design has led Dr. Ron Shapiro to being named either chairman or guest speaker for the Hairline Workshop at the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) over 15 times in 20 years.

"The Hair Replacement Revolution" – Consumer Guide Book

Dr. James Harris’s Past President of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) wrote the book The Hair Replacement Revolution: A Consumer’s Guide to Effective Hair Replacement Techniques. Dr. Ron Shapiro was awarded the Michelangelo Award from the Italian Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHR). He has visited Italy nine times to lecture and perform live surgical demonstrations at ISHR conferences. He has also received three other awards of recognition from the Italian Society.
