Female Hair Restoration in Minneapolis

Hair loss in women is an under-looked issue and worse yet with female pattern baldness, women feel “abnormal” and find themselves in a position that can make them extraordinarily uncomfortable. Thankfully, Shapiro Medical Group is here to help and we offer various treatment modalities to address hair loss in women.

Female Hair Loss Facts

The incidence of Female Pattern Alopecia (FPA) is greater than most people realize. Findings show that female pattern alopecia is as high as 30% in females over 30 years of age. Others have reported even higher incidences when women are carefully examined. One reason why this is not generally appreciated is that women can hide thinning hair with styling or by using products and hairpieces.

Female Hair Transplant Surgery in Minneapolis

Shapiro Medical Group offers hair transplant surgery for women utilizing the latest techniques for follicular unit transplantation and follicular unit extraction to achieve beautiful, natural-looking results for female patients.

In hair transplant surgery, healthy follicles are harvested and relocated to thinning areas. The process redistributes the hair to provide more uniform density, filling in bald spots and rebuilding a high or thinning hairline in a way that looks natural.

In Follicular Unit Transplantation or FUT, a thin section of scalp containing healthy follicles is extracted and the follicles are then isolated and transplanted into the thinning areas. The donor site is sutured close, leaving a thin linear scar that is easily concealable by surrounding hair after the procedure.

In Follicular Unit Extraction or FUE, healthy hair follicles are extracted one by one with a small punch device and transferred one at a time to the thinning areas. It leaves no linear scar and leaves surrounding hair intact, which can conceal the donor area once they grow long.
